| Ms. Nicole Conte Director of Bands |
Ms. Conte has been a Hillsborough County Music Educator since 1998 and was appointed the first Director of Bands
at Steinbrenner High School in 2009. Her teaching responsibilities include the Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Chamber Winds,
Jazz Band, Percussion Techniques, The “Legends” Color Guard and the “Marching Warrior Brigade”. Ms. Conte received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of South Florida and holds a Master of Music Education degree and Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting, as well. Ms. Conte is currently the only National Board Certified High School Band Director in Hillsborough County. Prior to her appointment at Steinbrenner, Ms. Conte served as Director of Bands at Leto High School where her award-winning bands consistently earned Superior ratings. Ms. Conte was the first director in Leto’s history to lead the band to straight Superior ratings at the district level, and split Superior/Excellent ratings at the State level. Under her direction, the first Jazz ensembles were developed and have earned Superior ratings at the district level. In 2007, Ms. Conte was the recipient of the Florida Bandmasters Association “Tom Bishop Award” for dramatic improvement to the Leto Band program. Ms. Conte remains actively involved as a Hillsborough County mentor teacher and has previously served as The Florida Bandmasters Association District Chairperson, All County Chairperson, Master Musician High School Chairperson, and was a contributing member of the FDOE Professional Development for Music Educators Model Lesson Plan Writing Team. Her professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference, Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Sigma Alpha Iota and the Hillsborough County Secondary Music Council. |
